For the instructor going from car to car, four internal AA batteries provide multiple weekends of power. For a driver who mounts the Speedcom SCC-2MPI in their car, the supplied power lead can be connected to the vehicle's 12VDC electrical system to power the intercom. SPEEDCOM TWO PERSON INTERCOM MOUNTING  An incredibly simple and secure roll bar "V" notch is built into this communicator. Just add two worm-drive clamps and your Speedcom SCC-2MPI is secured beyond anything we hope you do in your car. Even rally racers! Trac-Com IMSA Coiled Cable Helmet Kit The kit we install in all of our professional customers' helmets. The IMSA Coiled Cable Helmet Kit includes a custom designed digital noise canceling mic, specialized earbud jack, and modular coiled IMSA connector. Speedcom Single Ear Headset The Speedcom SCC-SEIH single-ear intercom headset connects to all Speedcom intercom units and features a built-in IMSA (4C) male connector for simple, reliable driver-to-passenger communications. Measuring approximately 3.5cm in diameter and 2.0cm thick including the pillow pad. This pad compresses easily with the right amount of give for comfort. FLEX BOOM MICROPHONE Attached to the speaker is a flex boom noise cancelling microphone. The flexible portion of the boom is 14cm long and the mini microphone adds 4cm, making it 18cm (7.1 in.) long in total to easily reach the user's mouth. The compact size works in every helmet we've tried it in. ROBUST WIRING MEANS LONGEVITY AND RELIABILITY Why do students pull the earpiece out by the wire? That's a question for the ages, perhaps. Recognizing this, Speedcom changed how headsets are built by making the SCC-2MPI with a built-in molded plug. Other brands use the two plastic earpiece halves to hold the cable, but Speedcom uses cabling that has a security block built in during the manufacturing stage, so you can pull on it all you want. Is this a more expensive way to build a headset? Yes. Is it the better way to build a headset? Also yes. Using the popular IMSA wiring protocol, the cable is 1.1m (3 ft. 9 in.) long, easily reaching a communication unit that's dash-mounted unit, shoved next to the seat of a D.E. car, or in the instructor's hand.
