Stilo ST5 GT SA2020 Offshore Composite Helmet Orange
The legend returns. The SA2020 Stilo ST5 GT helmet carries over everything that made the SA2015 version one of the most-loved helmets on the grid. Featuring the same tall eye-port and iconic side ports of the previous generation, the SA2020 ST5 GT from Stilo is worth getting excited about. This Offshore variant is already wired up for communications, and sports a bright orange shell, making it easy to spot.

Stilo ST5 GT SA2020 Offshore Composite Helmet Orange Details:

Manufacturer: Stilo
Manufacturer part number: DA0702BF2T
Color: Orange
M6 Nut Washer for HANS and other neck restraints
Rating: SA2020
Shield lock position: Center
Replaceable cheek pads: Yes
Sizes: X-Small - XXX-Large (54 - 64 cm)

This is a slightly heavier version of the ST5 Carbon helmet. It is made from a Kevlar Multi-Sandwich Fiber composite formed in an autoclave. It carries the same Snell SA2020 certification as the Carbon helmet, but the different material adds the weight. This different material yields a slightly heavier helmet, but at a reduced cost. The Snell SA2020 rating satisfies almost all racing sanctioning bodies’ requirements for helmet certifications.

Available with integrated electronics, top- or side-forced air supply, hydration, or any combination of the three, this helmet offers flexibility while maintaining a clean cabin. There are no wires or hoses hanging down below the helmet – everything integrates seamlessly with the shell of the helmet.

Features an M6 nut integrated into the shell to interface with Head and Neck Restraint Systems.

All Stilo shields are treated with an anti-fog treatment and they do require special care. The best result we have by far is the Stilo Visor cleaner. Liberally spray the outside of the visor with the cleaner, and wipe in a single swipe with a microfiber towel until clean and dry. If fingerprints or dirt remain, repeat as needed. A back and forth wiping motion will tend to leave lint from the rag on the visor, so the single-pass works best. Repeat if necessary, but usually, one pass works great.

Do not use Windex or any glass cleaner containing ammonia, as this can harm the anti-scratch coating on the outside of the visor, and the anti-fog coating on the inside of the visor.

Note: There are many things we can do to adjust your helmet fit. Obviously the best thing is to come into our show room and try on the helmets, but many times, that is just not possible. One of the great things about Stilo helmets is the adjustability with helmet padding. Crown padding, Cheek padding and different ear muff sizes are all available. Please contact a DiscoveryParts helmet expert at 888-748-7223.

Size Note: We have found that customers who typically wear a size 59 helmet are most comfortable in size 60, which uses the large shell. Please order accordingly.

  • Includes noise attenuating earmuffs to reduce exterior noise and maximize effectiveness of communications with your crew.

  • Select communications, forced air, hydration or eject options now, or add them later.

  • New 2020 Snell Certification offers increased protection for all head forms at higher g-forces and speeds

  • All Existing Stilo ST5 shields and other accessories work on new ST5.1 SA2020 helmets

An effective helmet is one that fits properly. Have an assistant use a dressmaker's tape or a piece of string to measure the circumference of your head, starting at a point about an inch above the eyebrows and around a point in the back of the head that results in the largest measurement, finally wrapping back around to the front. It's a good idea to take a few measurements and order your helmet based on the largest.

Remember that safety is paramount in auto racing, and choosing the right helmet and maintaining it properly is essential for your protection on the track. Always consult with the professionals at Discovery Parts and refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for specific questions about your racing helmet.

  1. Why do I need a racing helmet?

Auto racing helmets are designed to protect drivers from head injuries and fire during high-speed races and crashes. They are a crucial safety component in motorsports.
  2. How do I choose the right size Stilo ST5 GT Off-shore helmet? You should measure your head's circumference using a flexible tape measure, then refer to the manufacturer's sizing chart to select the appropriate size helmet. Please review our blog posting on how to properly fit your new auto racing helmet from Discovery Parts.
  3. What safety standards should I look for in a racing helmet? Look for helmets that meet safety standards like Snell and FIA depending on your racing discipline. These standards ensure the helmet's safety and quality. DOT helmets are designed for street use and not for racing and track use.
  4. What's the difference between full-face and open-face, and helmets? Full-face helmets provide the most protection with a complete face shield, while open-face helmets cover the top and sides of the head.
  5. Can I use a motorcycle helmet for auto racing? No, motorcycle helmets do not provide the same level of protection as auto racing helmets, as they are designed for different purposes. It's recommended to use a helmet specifically designed for auto racing which includes fire protection in addition to impact protection.
  6. How often should I replace my Stilo ST5 GT Off-shore racing helmet? Auto racing helmets should be replaced every 5-10 years, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations and usage. If the helmet is involved in a crash, it should be replaced immediately.
  7. Are expensive racing helmets safer than budget ones? Safety standards dictate the minimum safety requirements, so even budget-friendly helmets can offer protection. However it’s important to consider how lower-priced helmets are meeting the required testing standards. More expensive helmets are lighter, smaller, are constructed of superior materials, and often come with additional features then less expensive helmets.
  8. How do I maintain and clean my Stilo ST5 GT Off-shore racing helmet? Follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning and maintenance. You should clean the exterior, interior and shield with the Molecule Helmet Care Kit.
  9. Do I need to wear a balaclava under my Stilo ST5 GT Off-shore racing helmet? Balaclavas are typically not required for Driver's Education events, however they make wearing a helmet much, much more comfortable. Balaclavas will provide fire protection (if fire rated), help keep your helmet lining clean and order free by absorbing the majority of sweat while using it, and additionally balaclavas make putting your helmet on and taking it off by protecting your ears and keeping from from folding over when you helmet is worn. Discovery Parts recommends balaclavas from Alpinestars, OMP, Sabelt, Sparco, and Stand21. If you are entering sanctioned auto racing events, balaclavas will be required for fire protection.
  10. Is the SNELL SA Rating important? The Snell SA2020 certification is a safety standard established by the Snell Memorial Foundation for auto racing helmets. It sets the criteria and requirements that helmets must meet to be considered safe and suitable for use in motorsport events. Snell SA2020 certification is highly regarded in the motorsports industry and is often required or recommended by racing organizations and events. It signifies that a helmet has passed rigorous testing to provide maximum safety for drivers in various motorsport disciplines, including road racing, NASCAR, Formula 1, drag racing, and more. It's essential for drivers to check the specific safety standards required by the racing organizations they participate in to ensure compliance.
  11. Is the FIA helmet certification important? Yes, FIA (Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile) certification is crucial for auto racing helmets, especially in the context of international motorsport events and many national and regional racing series in the USA. The FIA 8859-2015 standard is commonly associated with racing helmets used in various motorsport disciplines. Helmets certified to FIA 8859-2015 met the safety requirements set by the FIA and were widely accepted in many racing series
  12. Which helmet certification is the most stringent and the hardest to meet? The FIA 8860-2018 certification is considered the most stringent and advanced helmet certifications available for auto racing helmets, and it is often associated with top-tier motorsport categories like Formula 1. It's important to note that the FIA 8860-2018 helmets offer a high level of protection and their use is mandatory in many racing series. Drivers should always check the regulations of the racing series they intend to participate in to ensure compliance with helmet certification standards.
  13. Can I wear glasses with my Stilo ST5 GT Off-shore helmet? Most helmets have provisions for wearing glasses or goggles, but check the design to be sure. Most manufacturers feature helmet models with wider eye ports to better accommodate eye glasses.
  14. Are carbon fiber helmets better? Carbon fiber helmets are lightweight and strong, a top choice for racers. But remember, certification matters most.
  15. Can I use a used helmet for racing? It's best to buy a new helmet. Used helmets may have unseen damage or be out of date on safety standards.
  16. Can I buy replacement parts for my Stilo ST5 GT Off-shore helmet, like visors or padding? Many manufacturers offer replacement parts, including visors and padding, to extend your helmet's lifespan.
  17. How can I prevent helmet fogging during races? Anti-fog sprays and inserts are available to help keep your visor clear during races.
  18. What's the importance of proper helmet ventilation? Proper ventilation helps keep you cool and comfortable during races, reducing the risk of heat exhaustion.
  19. How do I store my Stilo ST5 GT Off-shore helmet between races? Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and chemicals in a bag designed to store your auto racing helmet, like the Discovery Parts Evo Helmet Bag.
  20. Where can I buy a certified racing helmet? You should only buy from a professional authorized dealer who has sold thousands of helmets. You can find all the best brands at Discovery Parts online at or visit our retail store at Atlanta Motorsports park or at one of the hundreds of race and track day events we attend and support.

Great helmet

APBA mandates that a safety orange helmet be used in all open cockpit boats. I bought this one, first because of the fit. My head is longer than it is wide. This is made for this type of head shape. Second it has a factory installed communications system. We have spotters on the beach. They are used much like NASCAR spotters. A bit pricey but well worth th money!

Elevate Your Racing with Stilo

From the moment I put on the Stilo ST5.1 GT Offshore Composite Helmet, I knew I was in for a treat. The helmet's weight is perfectly balanced, providing comfort without sacrificing safety.

The Racers' New Best Friend

I recently switched to the Stilo ST5.1 GT Offshore Composite Helmet, and it's been a fantastic experience. The Kevlar Multi-Sandwich Fiber construction offers a reassuring sense of safety, and although slightly heavier than the Carbon model, it's still comfortably lightweight. The integrated communications system is a massive plus, making in-race communications seamless. The helmet fits snugly, and the noise attenuating earmuffs are great at blocking out distractions. While it's a bit on the expensive side, the quality and features you get make it worth the investment. This helmet stands out compared to others I've used, particularly in terms of its communication integration and comfort. A slight improvement could be to make it a tad lighter, but it's a minor point against an otherwise outstanding helmet.

Redefining Racing Comfort with Stilo

The integrated communication system works flawlessly, enhancing in-race strategy discussions. The helmet’s ventilation is sufficient, though I would appreciate more airflow on hotter days.

Where Safety Meets Sophistication

Racing with the Stilo ST5.1 GT Offshore Composite Helmet has been an outstanding experience. The helmet's Kevlar construction offers maximum protection without feeling too heavy. The visibility through the wide eyeport is incredible, giving me an edge in competitive racing. The integrated communications system is seamless and efficient, a significant upgrade over external systems. The helmet is comfortable, even during long races, and the noise attenuation is impressive. It’s a premium helmet for a premium price, but the level of safety and convenience it offers makes it worth the expense. It surpasses other helmets in comfort and integrated technology.
