ABP is an acronym for Advanced Ballistic Protection. The ABP replaces the previous zylon panel required by FIA in the previous generation (FIA 8860-2010) helmets, integrating a stronger protection into the front of the helmet shell. A brand new test was specifically introduced to test this area, based on military ballistic specifications with a projectile shot at 250 km/h. The Stilo ST5 FN ABP is the first helmet to be certified to this new standard, offering a higher safety degree while maintaining dimensions and weight!
The Stilo ST5 FN ABP 8860-2018 is among the lightest carbon fiber racing helmets on the market. While it lacks the side ports of the Stilo Helmets ST5 GT 8860-2018 Carbon Helmet, it can still be outfitted with electronics, top forced air and a helmet eject system. Thanks to the innovative design incorporating mounting and routing for these options, integration is sleek and seamless with nothing protruding from the helmet, hanging down or otherwise getting in the way. When not in use, you don't even know they're there.
Looking for increased visibility? The Stilo ST5 FN 8860-2018 has a taller and lower-placed eyeport, giving you better visibility while not compromising your safety. Every Stilo visor has a center pinch-clip to make opening and closing easy, even while wearing nomex racing gloves.
Sizing note: We have found that customers who typically wear a size 59 helmet are more comfortable in size 60, which uses the large shell. Please order accordingly.

An effective helmet is one that fits properly. To get the most accurate measurement please have an assistant use a fabric measuring tape or a piece of string to measure the circumference of your head starting at a point approximately one inch above your eyebrows in front, around a point in the back of your head that results in the largest possible measurement, and finally wrapping back to the front. It is a good idea to take several measurements to make sure you have the largest one.

Motor sports injuries have decreased in recent years, thanks to improvements in the quality of protective gear. But despite driver and industry precautions, racing is still a dangerous sport.
Exposure to a flash fire for even a few seconds can lead to serious injury or loss of life. Severe skin burns occur more often than they should because protective clothing is not properly cared for or has not been made resistant to flammable liquids.
Racing suits made from Nomex® technical fabric have extraordinary properties to protect drivers from flames and heat. Care instructions published by Nomex® manufacturer DuPont state that this unique fabric requires special care to be fully effective.
DuPont's laundering guide cautions Nomex® users that the fabric must be kept clean. "Flame resistance can be compromised by the presence of flammable contaminants on the garment, " the guide explains.
However, DuPont advises against using ordinary soaps for removing these contaminants. "Soap scums may be flammable and could adversely affect the thermal ensure safety and comfort.
Molecule is the right way to care for Nomex. Molecule Wash effectively cleans Nomex® fabric in standard washing machines. Removes contaminants that can degrade fabric performance. Antimicrobial agent inhibits the growth of bacterial odors. Dissolve and suspend tough spots and stains that can create combustible hot spots with Molecule Spot Cleaner. This cleaner is a concentrated formula that penetrates deeply into Nomex and technical fabrics to safely dissolve embedded spots and stains.
Molecule Protector spray extends the effectiveness of your clean firesuit. Protector spray bonds to Nomex fabric to help reduce flammable stains from oil, grease, fuel, dirt, and other contaminants that may compromise the efficiency of your racing suit. Armor your suit with Simpson Molecule Protector spray.
Do you have a long race weekend coming up? Molecule Refresh spray revives your suit for another day at the track. Weighing in at 3.39lbs in the small shell size and 3.63lbs in the large shell size this helmet comes standard with a sleek white color with blue interior. The ST5 FN helmet most often is use in the top level racing where every ounce matters.
The FN (Formula Naked) helmet line was designed for open cockpit environments and features an aerodynamic design, while still featuring an array of features making it the go-to helmet for racing professionals. The ST5 builds upon our ST4 design with a larger eye port which opens past the line of sight and includes an 3mm clear visor coming standard with our anti-fog coating. Improvements also have been made to the interior design with removable cheek & top pads allowing drivers to obtain the perfect fit.
Helmets come standard with removable earmuff cushions which provide a significantly quieter environment for the driver by isolating the ear.
Other Features: All Stilo closed faced helmets come in two separate shell sizes allowing us to craft a better fitting helmet that is lighter weight. Ready for non-integrated electronics, air supply, and hydration or any combination of the three this helmet is one of the top helmets on the IMSA grid. M6 nuts pre-installed for easy FHR installation Additional accessories available such as aero, top air kits, and an array of visor options.
Stilo FN Composite Helmet Features
Made in Italy and assembled by hand by skilled craftsmen
Although updated to meet the newest Snell SA2020 certification, the Stilo ST5 FN retains its FIA 8858-2015 homologation as well. This makes the helmet legal for nearly all road race usage (although some sanctioning bodies require FIA 8860 homologated helmets.)
Flexibility and Functionality Built In
The Stilo ST5 FN Composite is unsurpassed in built-in flexibility. Its two side ports can be fitted with 3 different types of integrated communication electronics, forced air, helmet eject system, or a hydration system. Thanks to its innovative shell design, mounting and routing these options to the Stilo ST5 FN is sleek and seamless. When not in use, you don't even know the features are there.
Additional shields in many tints and colors can be added in the dropdown above.
Industry-standard M6 threaded receivers are molded into the helmet shell to accommodate anchors for whichever head-and-neck restraint you use.
Note: We have found that customers who typically wear a size 59 in other brands are most comfortable in a Stilo size 60, which uses the larger shell. Please order accordingly.

The most effective helmet is one that fits properly. To measure your head, have an assistant use a dressmaker's tape or a piece of string to measure the circumference of your head. Start at a point about an inch above your eyebrows, looping around the back of your head at the point that results in the largest measurement, and finally around to the front again. It's a good idea to take two or three measurements to make sure you have the largest one.
