Of course, there's always room for performance improvement for Porsche driving enthusiasts looking to raise the performance bar even higher. IPD invested countless hours of R&D with a variety of unique design features and testing multiple prototypes before settling on the optimum design to significantly improve engine performance for both stock and highly modified 991.1 Turbos. Their innovative Y-Pipe design is not only larger but also utilizes non-round runners, an optimized merge collector area, and their proven dimpled interior surfacing. This superior design delivers greater volume of air, improved laminar flow, and increased air velocity, delivering an additional 35 horsepower and 40 lbs-ft of torque at the wheels! Plus improved boost response and more linear horsepower and torque curves. As you know, bigger is not always better when it comes to forced induction applications. The IPD Y-Pipe is considerably larger than the factory, but not so large as to cause pressure drop within the intake tract that could result in turbo lag and reduced performance. This optimized non-round design with dimpled interior surface cannot be achieved with conventional round tube construction. The 991.1 Turbo/Turbo S Y-Pipe is a direct bolt-on engine upgrade that requires no modifications but should be perform by an experienced Porsche technician familiar with the 991.1 platform. IPD Intake Plenum for Porsche 997.2 Turbo/Turbo S The incredible 997.2 Porsche Turbo and Turbo S received a completely redesigned engine with many substantial upgrades. At the time, they were the most powerful, revolutionary, and capable Porsche Turbos ever to come out of Stuttgart. The 997.2 Porsche Turbo may have been labeled a "facelift" but the engine was a major evolutionary leap forward in Porsche's coveted Turbo history. This seventh-generation Turbo engine, titled the 9A1, delivers 500 HP (530 HP in the "S") in stock trim. The 997.2 IPD Turbo plenum was considerably more difficult to design and develop than previous plenums. The good news is that all these efforts yielded a much easier installation process than previous Turbo plenums. The IPD 997.2 Turbo plenum is offered in a single version that utilizes the factory 74mm throttle body. The 997.2 Turbo intake manifolds are smaller than the 997.1 Turbo manifolds, which is great for improved boost response and gas mileage but less than ideal for making substantial power gains. The 74mm TB provides more than adequate flow for these more restrictive intake runners eliminating the need for a larger 82mm Competition version. The already explosive power of the 997.2 Turbo can be further increased with the new 997.2 Turbo IPD intake plenum. The patented IPD plenum design works exceptionally well with all forced induction applications, and the 997.2 Turbo is no exception. Power and torque increases provided by the IPD plenum are impressive and stay well above all factory power curves from launch to redline. Maximum power increases take place in the midrange where it's most needed and most enjoyed. The IPD 997.2 Turbo Plenum delivers smooth, linear power with considerably quicker boost response creating a broader, more desirable power band. The Turbo plenum gives reliable performance for both street and motorsport applications, enhancing the already visceral Porsche Turbo driving experience. Porsche's 997.2 Turbo ECU requires an adaptation period that can be fully realized with either a series of hard pulls on the dyno or a series of spirited driving sessions (which, of course, IPD recommends only be performed on a closed course circuit). Installation of all Turbo Plenums is highly recommended to be performed by qualified and trained Porsche technicians.

IPD Intake Plenum for Porsche 997.2 911 Carrera S (3.8L) Porsche DFI (Direct Fuel Injection) intake was a completely redesigned intake system developed to deliver improved performance, fuel consumption and lower emissions by optimizing the air fuel mixture directly inside the combustion chamber. The DFI Porsche engine package is a finely-tuned performance machine and additional power has proved difficult to find. The unique design of Porsche new DFI intake system posed challenging tuning hurdles but once again IPD developed a design that out-performs the factory intake system without compromising reliability and drive-ability. This innovative and revolutionary IPD DFI Intake Plenum employs the patented Y design as well as an enlarged plenum area that allows for improved intake air speed and velocity resulting in increased performance. The all new specifically designed IPD 3.8L DFI intake Plenum is a direct bolt-on upgrade that replaces the factory air intake distributor and utilizes all pre-existing factory hardware and throttle body. The improved IPD intake design allows for smoother, less turbulent and more efficient air flow resulting in impressive power and torque gains for Porsche driving enthusiasts. The superior design of the DFI IPD Plenum provides an additional 15 HP at the wheels. Unlike previous naturally aspirated IPD plenums that delivered stronger gains in the mid range, the new IPD DFI Plenums deliver a similar shaped power curve as the factory but is considerably stronger from the mid-RPMs to redline without any loses in power down low. Installation of the IPD 3.8L DFI Plenum is relatively straight forward and can be installed by mechanically inclined DIY customers, though IPD strongly recommends installation be performed by a trained and qualified Porsche technician.

IPD Plenum for Porsche 991.1 Turbo/Turbo S The incredible 991 Porsche Turbo received a completely redesigned exterior but the engine remained virtually identical to the previous model 997.2 Turbo. This latest Turbo is the most powerful, revolutionary and capable Porsche Turbo to ever come out of Stuttgart. This latest generation Turbo engine, titled the 9A1, delivers 520 HP (560 HP with the "S") and once again, raises the proverbial performance bar in the sports car world. The new 991 IPD Turbo Plenum is nearly identical to the previous 997.2 Turbo Plenums. The new IPD Turbo Plenum is offered in one single 74mm version which utilizes the factory 74mm throttle body. The 991 Turbo intake manifolds are smaller than the 997.1 Turbo manifolds which is great for improved boost response and gas mileage but less than ideal for making substantial power gains. The 74mm TB provides more than adequate flow for these more restrictive intake runners eliminating the need for a larger 82mm "Competition" version. The already explosive power of the 991 Turbo can be further increased with the new 991 Turbo IPD Intake Plenum. The patented IPD Plenum design works exceptionally well with all forced induction applications and the 991 Turbo is no exception. Power and torque increases provided by the IPD plenum are impressive and stay well above all factory power curves from launch to redline. Horsepower gains range from 24 to 28 depending on engine displacement and engine condition. These max power gains are experienced in the mid range where is it most useable and enjoyed. The IPD plenum not only delivers impressive power and torque increases but also creates a more linear power and torque band. Tiptronic customers even claim considerable improvements with more positive shifting after installing the IPD Plenums. Porsche has been controlling engine output by restricting the inlet track for decades. This has been successfully accomplished by utilizing smaller throttle bodies. This simple power control solution has been a very effective way of preventing lower level models from out performing certain flagship models, especially models with prolific racing pedigree. Although the factory engine packages are fantastic performance machines, they are engineered and developed to achieve specific performance numbers that satisfy a target demographic and compete with rival brands. Unfortunately driving enthusiasts who seek an elevated Porsche driving experience require performance levels well outside the target market. IPD Plenums deliver substantial power and torque gains, but when combined with larger throttle bodies they perform even better. All of the IPD "Competition" Plenums utilize the next largest size throttle body offered by Porsche. In this case, the Competition Plenum does away with your original 74mm throttle body in favor of Porsche's 82mm 997 GT3 throttle body (can be added above). All of our Competition Plenums are designed to perform with cars equipped with high performance exhaust systems. The more extensive the exhaust system (headers, kats and mufflers) the better. Optimizing air intake and exhaust together creates a balanced performance package that allows the engine to inhale and exhale more air thus creating more power and torque. IPD has pioneered another new Plenum design with the Competition Carrera Plenum. Laminar flows and volumetric efficiencies have been further enhanced with our unique and innovative internal merge collector area. This completely new approach has yielded not only great performance gains but more linear power delivery and improved throttle response as well. Gains vary depending on pre-existing mods and quality of after-market exhaust installed. As we all "should" know, horsepower and torque become harder to find and typically more expensive as we climb the proverbial performance ladder. That being said, performance components yield different power gains depending on the order they were installed. IPD tests and evaluates all products on bone stock cars, this establishes a level playing field and a better "apples to apples" comparison.
