It is made from a Kevlar Multi-Sandwich Fiber composite formed in an autoclave. It carries the same Snell SA2020 certification as the Carbon helmet, but the different material adds the weight. This different material yields a slightly heavier helmet, but at a reduced cost. The Snell SA2020 rating satisfies almost all racing sanctioning bodies’ requirements for helmet certifications.Available with integrated electronics, top- or side-forced air supply, hydration, or any combination of the three, this helmet offers flexibility while maintaining a clean cabin. There are no wires or hoses hanging down below the helmet – everything integrates seamlessly with the shell of the helmet.Features an M6 nut integrated into the shell to interface with Head and Neck Restraint Systems. All Stilo shields are treated with an anti-fog treatment and they do require special care. The best result we have by far is the Stilo Visor cleaner. Liberally spray the outside of the visor with the cleaner, and wipe in a single swipe with a microfiber towel until clean and dry. If fingerprints or dirt remain, repeat as needed. A back and forth wiping motion will tend to leave lint from the rag on the visor, so the single-pass works best. Repeat if necessary, but usually, one pass works great.Do not use Windex or any glass cleaner containing ammonia, as this can harm the anti-scratch coating on the outside of the visor, and the anti-fog coating on the inside of the visor. Note: There are many things we can do to adjust your helmet fit. Obviously the best thing is to come into our show room and try on the helmets, but many times, that is just not possible. One of the great things about Stilo helmets is the adjustability with helmet padding. Crown padding, Cheek padding and different ear muff sizes are all available. Please contact a DiscoveryParts helmet expert at 888-748-7223. Size Note: We have found that customers who typically wear a size 59 helmet are most comfortable in size 60, which uses the large shell. Please order accordingly. STILO ST5 GT OFFSHORE COMPOSITE HELMET FEATURES: Includes noise attenuating earmuffs to reduce exterior noise and maximize effectiveness of communications with your crew. Have an assistant use a dressmaker's tape or a piece of string to measure the circumference of your head, starting at a point about an inch above the eyebrows and around a point in the back of the head that results in the largest measurement, finally wrapping back around to the front. It's a good idea to take a few measurements and order your helmet based on the largest. This helmet will ship to you with signature required for delivery. STILO ST5 GT OFFSHORE COMPOSITE HELMETFREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ): Remember that safety is paramount in auto racing, and choosing the right helmet and maintaining it properly is essential for your protection on the track. Always consult with the professionals at Discovery Parts and refer to the manufacturer's guidelines for specific questions about your racing helmet. Why do I need a racing helmet? Auto racing helmets are designed to protect drivers from head injuries and fire during high-speed races and crashes. They are a crucial safety component in motorsports. How do I choose the right size Stilo ST5 GT Off-shore helmet? You should measure your head's circumference using a flexible tape measure, then refer to the manufacturer's sizing chart to select the appropriate size helmet. Please review our blog posting on how to properly fit your new auto racing helmet from Discovery Parts. What safety standards should I look for in a racing helmet? Look for helmets that meet safety standards like Snell and FIA depending on your racing discipline. These standards ensure the helmet's safety and quality. DOT helmets are designed for street use and not for racing and track use. What's the difference between full-face and open-face, and helmets? Full-face helmets provide the most protection with a complete face shield, while open-face helmets cover the top and sides of the head. Can I use a motorcycle helmet for auto racing? No, motorcycle helmets do not provide the same level of protection as auto racing helmets, as they are designed for different purposes. It's recommended to use a helmet specifically designed for auto racing which includes fire protection in addition to impact protection. SPARCO AIR PRO RF-5W MARTINI FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ): Remember that safety is paramount in auto racing, and choosing the right helmet and maintaining it properly is essential for your protection on the track. How do I choose the right size helmet? How often should I replace my auto racing helmet? Auto racing helmets should be replaced every 5-10 years, depending on the manufacturer's recommendations and usage. If the helmet is involved in a crash, it should be replaced immediately. Are expensive racing helmets safer than budget ones? Safety standards dictate the minimum safety requirements, so even budget-friendly helmets can offer protection. However it’s important to consider how lower-priced helmets are meeting the required testing standards. More expensive helmets are lighter, smaller, are constructed of superior materials, and often come with additional features then less expensive helmets. How do I maintain and clean my racing helmet? Follow the manufacturer's instructions for cleaning and maintenance. You should clean the exterior, interior and shield with the Molecule Helmet Care Kit. Do I need to wear a balaclava under my racing helmet? Balaclavas are typically not required for Driver's Education events, however they make wearing a helmet much, much more comfortable. Balaclavas will provide fire protection (if fire rated), help keep your helmet lining clean and order free by absorbing the majority of sweat while using it, and additionally balaclavas make putting your helmet on and taking it off by protecting your ears and keeping from from folding over when you helmet is worn. Discovery Parts recommends balaclavas from Alpinestars, OMP, Sabelt, Sparco, and Stand21. If you are entering sanctioned auto racing events, balaclavas will be required for fire protection. Is the SNELL SA Rating important? The Snell SA2020 certification is a safety standard established by the Snell Memorial Foundation for auto racing helmets. It sets the criteria and requirements that helmets must meet to be considered safe and suitable for use in motorsport events. Snell SA2020 certification is highly regarded in the motorsports industry and is often required or recommended by racing organizations and events. It signifies that a helmet has passed rigorous testing to provide maximum safety for drivers in various motorsport disciplines, including road racing, NASCAR, Formula 1, drag racing, and more. It's essential for drivers to check the specific safety standards required by the racing organizations they participate in to ensure compliance. Is the FIA helmet certification important? The FIA 8859-2015 standard is commonly associated with racing helmets used in various motorsport disciplines. Helmets certified to FIA 8859-2015 met the safety requirements set by the FIA and were widely accepted in many racing series Which helmet certification is the most stringent and the hardest to meet? Adjust the side tethers so that the end fitting can be easily inserted into the helmet anchor without pulling down on the helmet. A comfortable adjustment on the side tether is to have about 1" of slack in the tethers. With the helper still holding the device down and the driver looking straight ahead, adjust the rear tethers so that there is 1"to 1.5" of slack. Test the amount of head movement by moving the head straight forward. The driver should have 1" to 2" of forward head movement before the slack is taken out of the tether. Remember when checking this not to rotate the head down; translate it straight forward. This should allow for plenty of head movement on track. AIRBAG USE WITH HYBRID S: No one should unhook or disable the airbag system installed by the auto manufacturer or their authorized installer. Outside experts in Detroit have confirmed this and require their test engineers to use the Hybrid S in conjunction with the airbag in a 3-point system. Simpson agrees that the airbag and Hybrid S work together to increase protection in frontal crashes.
